Character Bio
Born in Waterdeep on the planet Toril, she served as a paladin of Tyr during her younger years. Her faith was shaken when her daughter fell deathly ill by unknown means. In her desperation she prayed to Tyr but received no answer. Later that night as she slept she was visited by a Baatezu. The Devil came bearing a contract detailing the restoration of her daughter and a cure to the unknown affliction in exchange for Regina's loyalty and servitude to the Nine Hells. Almost without thinking she agreed and from that moment forth her soul was tainted with darkness. Something inside her changed. She now speaks with an other-wordly authority who's only purpose is to bring unity and stillness to chaos and usher in obedience to those that would defy the Lords of the Nine. During her servitude her home was raided by bandits and her daughter was slain. In furious retribution she hunted down the perpetrators and set fire to the surrounding farmlands of Waterdeep and desecrated local chapels of Tyr in her fury in an effort to derogate the God who she blamed for her woes. She was assured by her Baatezu contact that her daughters soul remains in Baator as a guest of honor and a ward of Asmodeus himself. This hope is what keeps Regina moving forward. That her daughters soul would be elevated to a place at her Infernal Lord's side. When the time comes Regina strives to become a petitioner of Baator and ascend the ranks and take her place as a personal enforcer of Asmodeus's will, if only to lay eyes on her daughter one last time.
Arrival to Sigil
In the aftermath of her carnage she was eventually hunted down by a band of Paladins who swore to slay the "mortal fiend" that set fire to the lands and desecrated the chapels of Tyr. They gave chase and she fled into an unstable portal landing herself in the strange plane known as Sigil. She has met a few planewalkers but her reputation is loathed by most who come into contact with her. Local chants in hushed whispers tell tales of her interest in Harmonium, only time will tell what impact she makes on the planes but most can agree nothing good will come of it.
Personality
Regina is cold, cruel and without mercy. Her eyes look as if she is constantly passing judgement without ever saying a word. She finds virtues such as forgiveness and empathy foreign concepts though she is not above mimicry of these qualities to achieve an end result. The Blackguard is not one for pleasantries and her words may garner more enemies than allies but her adherence to the law by the letter is perhaps her most redeeming quality. Regina will make unlikely allies should such an event be made necessary and will side with the law and the rules that govern the body of land she finds herself in, though this does not mean she will not attempt to subvert such laws to her own ends. She composes herself socially as a woman of high standing even in the company of those who could be considered her social betters. Some have described her as obnoxious and many have critiqued her past on the rare occasions she speaks about it. Having learned who to trust and who not to trust, she opted to trust no one and never dwells too long in the presence of others. Lastly she bears a personal prejudice toward tieflings, not due to their ancestral origins mind you, but due to the fact she profiles their race as criminals and lawbreakers. She begrudgingly has great respect for Tieflings that devote themselves to law and order as she sees it as a break from their nature which in her opinion requires great discipline.
Powers and Abilites
In battle she wields a one handed green-steel warhammer and a baatorian large shield. She's also capable of casting Finger of Death once per day. Additionally she can utilize the abilities typical of a blackguard such as Rubuke Undead and Create Undead. She is adept at a variety of necromantic abilities. Three times per day she can cast invisibility obscuring her armored presence allowing herself to get close to her targets without directly alerting them. Aside from her natural regenerative abilities she's capable of casting unnatural regeneration once per day. Once per day she's capable of casting Unholy Weapon transforming her hammer into an "Unholy Reaver" a specially blessed weapon that when wielded by a blackguard acts as a +5 unholy weapon capable of delivering divine damage to all enemies. Her armor was forged in the fires of Baator and as such is capable of causing combustion to anyone who attacks her. It is also said each swing of her hammer drains the targets vitality and anyone slain by it has their soul sent directly to The Nine Hells.
