Note: Hardcore characters are not included in the retirement rewards system.

Retiring a character that is level 20 or higher will allow you to give a one-time bonus to a newly created character. Retirement bonuses cannot be 'banked' for future use, they cannot be stacked, and they cannot be applied to an already existing character if the character has left the OOC creation area.

You can apply a retirement bonus to a pending application character and it will be added on approval, but it's important to note that retiring a character will not increase the odds of an pending non-standard application passing unless it is someone's main character who they have been playing for an extended period and has proceeded into epics.

Retirement Process

When a character is retired, the current level will have 6 subtracted from it, the result will be rounded up, and then divided in half. That amount will be added to the new character. ECL will be taken into account.

Example: You retire a level 20 character. Removing 6 leaves 14, divided in half is 7. A new character with ECL 0 would start at level 14, whereas a new character who is ECL 3 would start at level 11.

In addition, the character will be given 50,000 coin per level added. They will also be given additional coin per renown of the character being retired at a rate of 200 coin per point of renown (600k cap at 3,000 renown - nothing higher adds more.)

Level 20

Retiring a character who is level 20 will allow you to have a custom item made for the new character; this can be equipment or a normal item. It cannot be an Ioun or anything that would require a script to work. The power level of the item cannot be equal to or exceed a level 15 capped item, and it must have lore and backstory for the new character involved in it. You will be required to write the description for the item, and a DM will work with you to have the item follow the theme of the history without breaking the item power limit.

Level 21+

Retiring a character who is level 21+ will allow you to have a custom item made that is roughly on the same power level as the endgame loot that you would find in the typical epic dungeon loot chest. It cannot be an Ioun or anything that would require a script to work. It must have lore and backstory for your character. You will be required to write the description for the item, and a DM will work with you to have the item follow the theme of the history without breaking the item power limit. The level requirement for the item will be changed to 7 so your new character can use it.

Mid-to-High Epic Retirement

If a mid-to-high epic character is retired the DM team may be willing to do a 'send off' miniature event for the character or have the character converted into an NPC. The exact means of retirement for any character can be chosen by the player so long as it makes sense in-setting. Any character who is retired as a result of permadeath from plot or RP are given all the retirement benefits and may be given additional benefits as well.
