Appearance

Sah'el is a drow and a fairly typical one at that: red eyes, ebony skin, white hair which she keeps in a tight braid. Her face is somewhat broader than the norm for an elf, and her nose a little flat, making her somewhat less than a classical beauty. She usually wears simple yet comfortable dark outfits that allow her a good freedom of movement. She carries around a few bladed weapons and at least her trusted old guitar, but often also a heavy backpack filled with things such as books, scrolls, and bundles of cloths containting whatever old thing she recently managed to dig out.

This drow is not exactly known for her wide range of facial expressions. She rarely smiles, almost never laughs though she does seem to have a certain skill for frowning and scowling. Even when she stands perfectly still, her fingers are usually drumming on something, as if following a tune no-one else can hear.

Personality and relationships

Sah'el's personality is sometimes difficult to follow. She is usually calm and polite if not particularly friendly, though she is not shy at expressing exactly what she feels -when she wants to. Innocence, soft-hearted people and excessive cheerfulness seem to irritate her and it is not unsual to see her snap at someone she does not even know for just looking like one of these annoying tree- huggers. Whether or not she feels compassion, she never shows it, but to some specific people who interest her she can be helpful and even kind in her own way.

+ Senna is probably the closest to a traditionnal 'friend' that Sah'el has. She regularly spends some time alone with the girl, and appears to implicitly trust her.

+ The drowess can often be seen in the company of a group of ladies composed of Cassidy, Lishthressaril and Eruca. While she is clearly quite fond of the pale red-eyed lady, the two do not seem particularly close. Sah'el's relationship with Cassidy is a study in awkwardness, but they mostly get along fine. With Eruca things are more tense, and it is unclear if Sah'el stands the company of the succubus because she seems to be frequenting the same crowds, or actually likes her. Perhaps she does not know, herself.

+ There seems to be a sort of working relationship between her and Balthazar- whatever else, he has provided her with a scarecrow-shaped automaton who can be found in the Tytalus theater in the Lower Ward- quite often seated at the piano. She does express a certain irritation towards him half the time, so it is unclear whether this should be considered a friendship.

+ Much more simple is the quiet companionship she sometimes shares with Saevio. The two seem to enjoy the other's uncomplicated, direct approach to life and though they are very different personnality, interests and goals, the drow relaxes in the company of the barbarian.

+ Sah'el seems to hold the wizard Alec in high regards, and always adresses him with polite respect. Niki and him allowed her to use the Archives to train and work when she did not have a safe place to do so, for which she is grateful.

+ Though she rarely sees the tiefling Naaziira, she is always polite towards her, while the owner of Dare is... Well, being Naaziira. There might have been a short-lived tension between the two women about the beautiful fey-blooded Nairna.

None of the workers of the Tytalus can be considered to be Sah'el's friends, yet she has developped a fierce protective attitude towards them. Whether they are simple cleaners (and there is work to do, with all the dust and foul smoke coming in from the Lower Ward!) or artists, she treats them all with a polite respect, and keeps a sharp eye on whatever could threaten them. It is said, for example, that one of the violonists gives lessons to the drow Gre'vyll, and it shows the extent of the trust Sah'el has for her kin that she keeps track of each lesson, ensuring that the young man has not been harmed in any way.

History

Sah'el makes no secret of the fact that she was born in a "normal" drow house, somewhere in the Underdark on Toril. During an eilistraean raid on her house, she was considered young enough to be saved and was taught to dance, and play music. What happened then is not very clear, but she left them as soon as she reached adulthood.

Her travels led her to Ironridge. This is where she settled, bought her own music shop, where she kept a gallery of odd instruments and welcomed a gallery of odd people. Then Ironridge was destroyed, she lost everything, and somehow ended up in Sigil. There she showed interest in the Tytalus, which she ended up running.

Chant

This drow woman is said to share her time between the Tytalus Theater, the Archives, and various ruins in the Outlands. The Tytalus clearly occupies most of her mind, between taking care of its people and organizing performances in which the dancer Aerenxa usually holds a central role, and sometimes -when time allows- actually dancing and playing music. When she is not in her theater, she can be found either in the Archives, sitting swamped in open books, or one one of her archeology sites in the Outlands, covered with mud.

Whoever has talked with her about music probably believes she is a bit barmy. She is also said to be quite cowardly, and not ashamed of it. Running from trouble keeps a drow alive. Aside from that, though, she doesn't seem to be a mysterious or interesting enough figure to warrant many rumours.
