Changelog
Below you will find the changelog of mechanics from Sigil: Planar Legends. These date from March 30th, 2014 and were transcribed from the defunct Enjin Forum on the 13th of April, 2023. Any after this date were added directly to this wiki page. Where possible, elements such as formatting and typos have been preserved from Enjin. The format of each changelog transcript title is {BUILD_NUMBER - DAY/MONTH/YEAR - ORIGINAL_AUTHOR}.
The transcribed authors are those who made the original changelog forum posts, with individual contributors (where possible) mentioned in the post. Any posts after the 13th of April, 2023 will not mention an author but will include contributors where possible. Due to the nature of forum-based logging, not all dates are confirmed to be accurate. Some earlier changelogs may be duplicates, and hotfixes and updates with minimal/no information are not included.

Some updates to Hive Ward to reflect changing situation. Introduction of Sigil Guides - NPCs that for a fee takes you between the Hive and Clerks/Lower Ward. Nerfbat on a pair of merchants that were very very generous. A horse or a dracolich? Not a horse. Not easy anymore. Some small aesthetic updates. Addition of pelt cloaks to the cloak editor. Reintroduction/fix of exploration xp. Minor fixes including npc fixes and movearounds. In conjunction with fixed haks. |

Made it easier to move from the Hive by increasing the random success chance and lowering some DCs. (Going to the Hive is unchanged.)

Sigil:
Sigil is updated to reflect a series of events. 1. Travel system implemented between the Hive and other wards 2. Market Ward Bazaar has the free golem 3. Lower and Clerk's updated with paths towards the Hive, Refugee camp diminished 4. Park of infernal and divine updated with a bit more detail 5. Clerk's Ward has had increased Fated presence, and slightly decreased harmonium 6. Hive Ward has fewer slaad attacks, but also some other encounters to reflect the current state 7. The Society of Luminiferous Aether has been put back in 9. Ubiquitous Wayfarer, The Great Foundry small updates 10. Some other minor updates and fixes (including removal of odd wings on lots of npcs when haks were updated) Oudlands: 1. Gwyllach has had some naked rangers wear clothes 2. Gwyllach has the Commodore's re-attached 3. Some other areas have small updates and fixes. DM Resources: 1. A pair of z areas added 2. DMFI encounter area added 3. The system mentioned here implemented 1st stage. This means the change in xp gain possibilities, death rules, and that about half of the explore-xp has been implemented. That way it can begin to be tested. |

Fixed a few bugs, updated the market ward "permanently" (so that it does not revert to earlier IC states at reset/crash), removed a pair of items from loot.
Added key to luminiferous aether. Also a fix and polish of Hillard's (thanks Underlight!). As a backlog, we have in earlier updates included the luminiferous aether area, fixes to the great foundry, added Bedlam, and a number of other things. Most bugfixes won't likely be noticed, more lengthy bug swatting comes in next update (inc spell fixes). |

A few doors with the wrong key tag on them fixed Portal out of the Astral Plane should now properly remove flight widgets A number of slightly random Sigil NPCs will own your ass a bit less if you try to fight them Kiss replacement: After looking closer at the dagger and its abilities, it has been found that while it is bugged, it also has a collective set of properties that makes it overpowered for being available in stores. This is mostly due to the onhit vampiric touch. This is obviously a mistake on our side and to correct it (and be fair to new players) we have implemented a script that replaces the old "Kiss" with the new version in anyone's inventory. We're aware this may not feel fun and we are sorry about this, but sometimes we just need to do these kind of things. |

Loot system:
Loot now spawns gold more often (20%) and the pesky 'misc' category even more often (40%). Mean gold amount lowered. Loot now includes enhanced (+1) to ensorcelled (+4) weapons of all kinds. You will find the special things still, but expect about half to be of the nondescript bonus kind. (= more build diversity possible) Thanks to Stormbringer, the special loot has received a number of additions, too! (Especially the High and Great categories). Spell level calculations: They should now work. On all spells. For all classes. Yes, I mean all classes. Start sending bug reports! (Huge thanks to Cubic!) Psionicist!: Psionicist should be fixed. There will be a few minor tweaks moving forward (shifting more abilities to int rather than wis), but it's there. Unless it's broken. Tweaks, fixes, bug fixes: I'd list them, but a bunch of spells have been altered as per player suggestions, and a number of other things. It also includes a series of description updates that don't affect mechanics but puts the described behaviour of abilities in line with mechanics and/or srd-like. Hak update: Yeah. Hundreds of placeable and creature models. Lots of tilesets. You'll start seeing them roll out soon. Some models have been used already for some things. Let's see if you find them. (Hak update) Other tweaks and fixes: Wards have been updated to better reflect current IC situation. Beware in the Hive. Updates to a few other areas. I may list them later. Probably a bunch more things including bugs fixed. Oh, Koren should have fewer flying trees. Please report remaining such. Resource optimisation: By introducing the spl_scripts.hak, more than a thousand resources have been saved meaning we can keep expanding SPL for a logn time to come! (Uptade awaits host implementation) Details to follow, and also, as always: Big update, expect errors, we'll fix them. Report dilligently! Again, huge thanks to Cubic both for the script fixes, and for putting up with all my questions about content, scripting, misunderstood scripting, and so on. |

Carceri does not need to be fixed, you just haven’t tried hard enough. (Also, yeah, sorry, but the lower level you are, the more difficult it will be to find what you need to get out). Summons update: The highest tier summons have been renamed to on the one hand be more appropriate (no more killing rats with balors), and on the other hand to mark their special status. They now all require the caster to be 20th level to chose, and are now named Abyssal Ghoul Ravager, Astral Deva Crusader, Chaosforged Death Slaad, Cornugon Chainmauler, Curst Warrior, Invisible Stalker, Elder, Maelbranche Tormentor, Marilith Dervish, Molydeus Blademaster, Stormcloud Belker and Nightcrawler Predator. To make them more equal on footing the following changes have been made. This is a first step and further tweaking may be necessary. All of these have been given a level requirement of 20 to chose as option for "gate" when appliccable.
We will have to see how this plays out, since some boosts are significant but from a ridiculous difference in power level between summoning books.
Celestial Summons The Celestials Summon lineup has been changed to: 1 Coure 2 Musteval 3 Hound Archon 4 Movanic Deva 5 Firre 6 Shiere 7 Monadic Deva 8 Ghaele 9 Astral Deva Crusader (These changes are currently cosmetic, power levels are as before aside the Astral Deva Crusader)
Gold Worth Tweaking: To make gold just a little more meaningful, a few things have been looked into. All pawnshops have had their payment ceiling lowered as well as slightly reduced pay for items. All shops have had their ceiling lowered and in almost all cases had an appraise roll added. The merchants have been given appraise skill. This is meant to ensure that appropriate builds become more important for gold return.
It is also meant to ensure that moving around the server is more beneficial: depending on your character you’d find stores with high or low appraise better, with high ceiling or high pay% better, etc. Generally, these factors play differently so that the highest ceiling has a lower % and higher npc appraise, whereas low ceiling and low% would have low npc appraise, etc. To not punish new characters too hard the Bronze Bezant have primarily had the ceiling lowered while the % and appraise have been kept fairly similar. Loot and merchants have been gone through and all wands have had the amount charges lowered (ca ½). This is another part in trying to address gold economy, and to decrease’pocket mage’ tendencies. This does not affect wands created by PCs. Module Cleanup: About 100 unused monsters/npcs and their items removed (many of which belonged to the removed areas or has previously been taken out of spawns) About 80 scripts removed (about 30 unused; about 50 unnecessary scripts 'doubles' replaced with variable-based scripts and removed) About 20 unused conversations removed About 60 items removed (doubles or trivial variants, e.g. ”cloaked” versions of various clothes) from resources About 100 items (keys, faction tokens) removed from resources and instead placed in containers. 1 unused area removed (”Daeth Tower”) A range of faultily named resources (conversations, scripts, etc) have been replaced with correctly named resources. |
