Changelog
Below you will find the changelog of mechanics from Sigil: Planar Legends. These date from March 30th, 2014 and were transcribed from the defunct Enjin Forum on the 13th of April, 2023. Any after this date were added directly to this wiki page. Where possible, elements such as formatting and typos have been preserved from Enjin. The format of each changelog transcript title is {BUILD_NUMBER - DAY/MONTH/YEAR - ORIGINAL_AUTHOR}.
The transcribed authors are those who made the original changelog forum posts, with individual contributors (where possible) mentioned in the post. Any posts after the 13th of April, 2023 will not mention an author but will include contributors where possible. Due to the nature of forum-based logging, not all dates are confirmed to be accurate. Some earlier changelogs may be duplicates, and hotfixes and updates with minimal/no information may not have been included.

Lythrum: Dangerous areas in Arvandor should feel more consistently dangerous and also more rewarding. | Automated player housing has arrived. As you venture around the world, you'll see hundreds of available houses in dozens of locations around the server. Better yet, these houses come with persistent storage. The rent and size of these houses vary, ranging from a simple 1x1 room to an entire mansion equipped with guards and servants. The Ubiquitous Wayfarer apartments in Sigil and the Hound's Hearth apartments in Tradegate were also added to this system.
The Hall of Speakers has been added. (Laiken) Glorium has been added. (Deez) Ecstasy has a new exterior area and various shop interiors. (Conker) Fixes for head texture bugs. (Glimmermoth) Updated pale master arm, updated armor texture colors, a new hood model, retextured rock placeables, and fixed shortsword model. (SGravley) New mud slaad model. (Vildrose) The Ditch area in the Hive has been remade. Languages have been completely overhauled to a brand new system that's automated to player commands. Comprehend Languages and Tongues also tie into this new system. With this in place, adding more languages in future patches will be much more viable. (Numbers, Loops) Resting in inn rooms, player housing areas, Mordenkainen's Mansions, groves with tents, and the Dread Pirate ship interiors will grant +1 to regeneration and saves until your next rest or death. This is to represent sleeping in a proper bedroom and to encourage the use of these types of areas. The loot system has been adjusted to combat item bloat in large parties. We don't want sorting loot after a dungeon to be a huge ordeal that takes an hour to set it all out, pick what you want, and then wait for it to be gathered up again and sold. To combat this, the chance for gold instead of an item increases the larger the party is. It's no longer a 1:1 system up to 5 party members now, but there's no longer a drop cap based on party size either. Boss chests are less affected by this change, as the main goal is to cut back on parties having to sort through things like a million wands and staves. There's another new system in place involving increased party sizes that we'll be observing. When large groups of levels 15+ gather up to tackle content (excluding the Spire of Valor), they may notice that the encounter difficulty has been slightly scaled to match up closer to their group size. This is to make things more interesting for big parties, and won't be noticed too much by smaller groups. (Loops) Wings and tails have been automated in the starter area for those that are eligible. It automatically filters out any non-wing/tail model choices. A new NPC has been added to the AFK room that lets you apply scabbards, quivers, etc to the wing slot. Blood Apostle now has a 3 level arcane requirement and provides half arcane caster progression. Shield Warden has been reworked a little. Shield Warden barriers (except Guardian Shroud) are no longer temp hp. (Loops) Psion has been moved to a base class and no longer requires an app. Party chat is now party + talk chat. People in talk range will see what you type even in party chat. (Loops) New player statistics: Ally Raises and Respawns. Imprisonment no longer cutscenes you or binds your location. A VFX has been added to Curse Song'd targets. Various bug fixes. |

| Lythrum's awesome work with a new music system is in. He added a ton of great fantasy game music that can be found here. Highly recommended for your Planescape experience. Simply download and extract into your nwn music folder. Many more areas will be updated in the coming patches.
Artificer closed alpha fixes. (Loops) New tilesets and a fix for the Abyssal tileset. (LucidPixels) Some cool new minotaur models. (SGravley) Vestiges will now only give 200 XP, but solo monster XP has been increased by 1k per day. Elder Brain spawning issues should be fixed. Brain was too smart to spawn and be killed, I guess. The quest system should be more intuitive. Shield Slam won't activate on self and won't go on cooldown if the target is too far. Save vs poison also fixed by Loops/Mad. The Plane of Earth isn't so green. Two-Weapon Defense deflection AC increased to 4 and 6. Wizard prohibited schools fixed. (Loops) Wizard illusion school now gives rogue sneak attack instead of blackguard. Stealth two round cooldown fixed. (LucidPixels) New divine spells: Animalistic Power, Body of the Sun, Storm Avatar. (Loops) Carry capacity increased for lower strength characters. (Loops) Gatecrasher made full bab progression. (Loops) The range for XP given by monster CR vs player HD has been shifted to be more favorable against higher CR targets. The permanent flight spell widget bug is fixed. Racial SR that got stripped on death now fixed. Also gets applied after level up instead of relog. Minor bug fixes. |

| Artificer closed alpha is live. (Alioops, Numbers, Madhashi3)
Wizard spell school specializations are live. Wizards now have Mage Bolt for free. (Alioops, Numbers, Madhashi3) New models, including a greatsword, staves, modrons, and slaads. (SGravley, Vildrose) Slings added to Peerless Archer. New slings and two-bladed swords added. (Simpet) Physical Damage Immunity diminishing returns is properly working now. (Madhashi3, Numbers) Epic bosses outside the Spire of Valor and vaults have new and unique mechanics and spells. Timestop duration reduced to 9 seconds. Shaman Planar Survival fixed. Melf's Minute Meteors have no weight and can now be extended/empowered/maximized. The Spire of Valor: Completing a room will now automatically raise dead party members in the area. Activating the entrance as a level 20 will let you and your party skip the first 20 rooms. An epic character's party will skip 40 rooms. The leaderboard will now be wiped. Blackguard's fiendish might duration is fixed and their undead summon should be more consistent. Gate and Summon 1-9 now have a tiny chance to shift alignment by 1 point based on good/evil summons. NPCs randomly going hostile should be fixed. Isaac's Greater Missle Storm now d12 from d6. Many small quality of life changes and bug fixes. |

| PRC caster level progression is fixed.
Item stack sizes greatly expanded. IE: ammo caps at 999, potions at 300, etc. Top end iouns have a new animations. (SGravley) Koren and Faunel aren't such a saturated blue/green. A new quest added to the guild quests. Damage immunity changes. (Madhashi3) Monster ability fear is nerfed. Beholder rays no longer bypass death immunity. Illithid Mass Concussion fort for half damage save added. Melf's Minute Meteors reworked. Drunken Master brew nerfs. (Alioops) Shifter nerfs. 5 rounds added to Extended Rage (not Frenzy). Shield Warden's Mass Barrier now grants 25 base temp hp. Psion given +75 base power points. Psion power points restore with a Second Wind potion. Freedom (9th level spell) now hours per level from turns. True Necromancer gets the undead tome at level 1. True Necromancer's skeleton archer should equip its bow if unequipped. Various bug fixes. |

| The Planewalker's Guild quest system has been reworked and improved. There are many new quests and rewards for higher levels. All quests will persist through resets and you won't be given a quest you already have. I wouldn't recommend letting them build up too much, though.
Low-level dungeon quests in Sigil will now split turn-in rewards among those in the party in the same area, as long as they are in the appropriate level range for the XP. New informative chat commands have been added. The random Outlands/Sigil travel message error should be fixed. New elf and dwarf heads, along with a new cloak, weapon VFX, and Melf's Minute Meteor model. Additional animations have also been fixed from the last patch's bug. (SGravley) Drunken Master has had a few bug fixes and a minor ability rework. (Alioops) Charge-based abilities with cooldowns should recharge more consistently when dead or logged out. A certain pair of twins in Pandemonium respawn, and they, along with a group of modrons at the top of Mechanus have been restored to their former glory. A few new iouns and a handful of other new things in the loot pool. Many, many #bug-report issues handled. |

| Awesome new head, armor, and weapon VFX models. More to come in the future. Fixed texture issues with some weapons. New weapon VFXs will be accessible through the chart below. We'll have a new crafting menu system in place in the next patch to scroll through
VFXs. (SGravley) The ioun stone scripts have been completely rehauled. You shouldn't notice any change except iouns will persist through relogging and there's a new command to remove all active ioun effects. More changes to come with the new system. Vestige buffs will now persist through relogging now that the old ioun system no longer interferes. *Shakes fist* Tieflings no longer suffer the -2 racial cha penalty. New Spire of Valor items can now be put into bags and the trash can, but still not sellable or wearable by another. Spire of Valor deaths no longer take gold or log deaths in the character statistics. Blood Apostle bugs fixed and class has been improved. Crystal Cavern dungeon now connects to the Plane of Earth. Blackguard summons make a little more sense, and follow law-chaos alignments. Various bug fixes from last patch, including low-level quests. |

| New Additions:
Character editing has been totally rehauled to the crafting menu. That means per-part item coloring is finally here. This new system allows a character to hide their helmets, adjust item appearance on the fly, and save dynamic character armor appearances to their character files. Those with access to the advanced editor part can also save and recall whole character appearances with one click. This will allow a class like shifter to instantly switch between pre-written static and dynamic appearances.
Classes: Blood Apostle: Beta is now live. Shadowdancer: Shadow Twin ability is now live. Shifter: Unlocked. Psion: Has been fixed up enough to allow applications. Still not perfect but pretty good. Gatecrasher: Planar Tempest now kills NPCs on a failed save. Still flings PCs randomly into the planes. Summon Spell Dampening and Planar Dampening visual upgrades. Stalwart Defender: Taunt ability should now work better with enemy AI. Frenzy Berserker: Berserk Slam now has new VFX. Blackguard: Fiendish Might now also grants 2 regen and is undispellable. Unholy Sword now lasts an additional minute. Doomlord: Unmake Magic now has a scaling DC rather than flat 10. Disintegrate DC and damage boost properly scaling. Entropic blow has a visual upgrade and is no longer dispellable.
Basic ability buff spells are now d2 + 3, or 5 at caster 20+. (The days of rolling ten 2s in a row are over.) Disintegrate (spell/psionics): Higher minimum damage. Blackstaff: Now temporarily conjures a powerful quarterstaff to the caster's hands. Tenser's Transformation: Visual upgrade. Death Armor: Level cap has been removed.
Misc: Butcher's Block has been updated. (Conker) Most in-game descriptions are now up to date. Event Tokens: Every event participated in will grant a character an event token. This will help players and DMs keep track of how many events your characters have participated in. Enemies should now de-aggro if a player goes into the bleeding state. The cost of respawning has gone up for higher levels (except in the Spire of Valor). Store auto resets removed. New Elder Brain epic boss. Taborlin has a fancy new interior area and an expanded shop with new consumables, and new functions such as paying him directly for temporary magical wards and more. Rigus has a new unique shop. Many new elixirs added around the server, including a unique brew at Dis, and others at Tradegate, Nix, Carceri, and Excelsior. New Prime Material and Inner Plane Gate/Planeshift locations added (some with Knowledge: Planes checks). |

| Class Changes:
Shifter has been totally reworked. The vampiric healing effect from Frenzy has been adjusted to rely more on damage dealt. (Madhashi3) Awaken now also grants 1 regeneration per 4 caster levels for companions and cohorts. Shadow Evade now requires a minimum of 4 dex mod to grant full benefits.
New content: Tons of new feats, feat changes, and some UI elements. More UI additions will be coming in future patches. Misc: Legendary Armoire from dragon lairs now drop 2 additional set pieces. New PvM areas added to the test area for better testing. Vaults have been reworked. Each of the 10 vaults have their own unique key found in their respective loot pools sorted by level. The non-epic 1-3 vaults have been made slightly harder with better loot. Vaults 4-7 have been made high epic with better loot. Vaults 8-10 are mostly untouched. Many TLK updates. Big Spire of Valor updates, including greater randomization, tons of new side rooms, VFXs for new and old shrine buffs, new bosses, and something of a fix for Beamdog's function bug where chests occasionally wouldn't open. Dis - Cibernadie's incredible new addition to Baator. New experimental items can be found in the loot pool that can be consumed to add more charges to an item with charges. These might be added to shops later. A new mini-epic boss in Obad Hai. Acid ticks and a new mini-epic boss in the Weirath dead god corpse. Class Updates: Gatecrashers have gotten some serious love across all abilities. Slight Molydeus summon nerf. Heavenly Host now lasts 7 minutes from 5. True Necromancer summons are not quite as powerful. Spell Updates: Gate summons now last twice their duration for caster level 20+. Elemental Swarm now summons better elementals. Greater Planar Binding now hours per level from rounds. Dimensional Anchor now lasts turns per instead of rounds.
Miscellaneous: Environmental effects in various places have been made harsher. Mostly those lacking in epic content areas. New bolts added to Tradegate's shops. Test character area now has hostile combat dummies for hostile only abilities and spells. |

| Deez:
New personal area for Chandra. Dread Pirate ship interiors.
Ecstasy is in. Various elixir shops have 10 stack versions now. Shops/scripts/etc added to Loops' new Temple of the Abyss. Temple of the Abyss exterior entrance added. New test character system added with level 20, auto releveling, force rest, and special room for testing. Advanced Editor releveler added for easy approved relevels. Three new currencies added. Expensive new trinkets for special resurrection added. New Dread Pirate boating system added. Many updated and improved z areas and a handful of new ones as well.. A new special and expensive potion sold somewhere. Fel's tattoos have been updated. Many small tweaks. Too small and numerous to list.
Dungeons:
New Nidavellir dungeon around 13 CR. Upper-tier bosses are a little tankier. Koren lycans and ogres are slightly tougher. Ogres no longer have massive bludgeoning resistance. Various high-tier epic bosses will now drop a unique token with spell charges. Elemental Plane of Earth Dao Palace replaced with a new epic boss. Dragon bosses are no longer immune to sneak attacks and mind-affecting. The bigass spider in Wierath is actually tough now. Zhalxos drops more randomly rolled special items.
Loot Updates:
Loot quality in epic dungeons has been shifted to favor the harder dungeons. Loot at the upper end of epic dungeons will be consistently much better in quantity and quality. Especially vaults. New items and many updated old items. New infinite throwing weapons added. Empowered Sapphires will show up ten times as often (JK, they're removed). Chaos Monk gear added. Shaman gear added.
Spell Changes:
Melf's Minute Meteors added to wizard/sorc/druid/shaman. Wail of the Banshee now does d20 + d4 per caster level sonic damage on a failed fort save if the target has death immunities. Energy Buffer now 24-hour duration from 1 turn per level. Glow now lasts 10 minutes plus 1 per caster level from 1 round per caster.
Planar Champion:
Planar Champion's Adversity duration is now 2 turns per level from 5 rounds. Other ability durations increased.
True Necromancer:
Total summon update and a new unique Gate summon option. Magic Vestment and Shield of Faith now +5 at level 10+.
Mystic Theurge:
Magic Vestment and Shield of Faith now +5 at level 10+.
Drunken Master:
Home Brew now drops cha instead of dex. Lasts 30 minutes from 10.
Dirge Singer:
Last Laugh now resurrects to full health. You still die after a while.
Divine Agent:
New level 10 summon ability, Heavenly Host.
Psion:
Psychic Crush no longer works on oozes.
Bard:
Ballad of the Banshee now grants specifically PCs a will roll for half damage. DC is 5 + bard level + cha mod.
Shadowdancer:
Shadow Evade duration 2 rounds + SD lvl capped at 10 from 5 + SD lvl.
Barbarian:
Elemental Rage now grants the appropriate elemental immunity.
Bug Fixes:
The Spire of Valor might no longer rarely bug out with locked chests (potential workaround for Beamdog bug). Deathless Touch longer works on undead, constructs, elementals, or oozes. No longer summons on failed fort save unless creature dies. Tradegate's Golden Hound will no longer take your key and trap you in a room. Many small bug fixes. Too small and numerous to list.
Madhashi3:
Misc:
Reaching the XP cap now grants 1 XP per kill instead of 0. New DM command to make feat adjustment easier. Shadow Evocation/Conjuration spells updated. Werewolf widget fixed and now can break 12 cap. Keen Edge now works on bludgeoning weapons. Various lag reducing changes to script delays implemented. Summon upgrade feat scripts added. Summon conversations are now only visible to the summoner. Wielding a one-handed weapon with nothing in your off-hand will now grant you 50% additional str mod damage. Wielding a two-handed weapon now grants 100% additional str mod damage instead of 50%.
True Necromancer:
Reduced cooldown for Create Lesser to 2 minutes from 15. Aura of Desecration gives 1 dodge ac rather than temp HP.
Druid/Tender:
Animal Companion and Planar Cohort scaling scripts added. Companion/Cohort upgrade feat scripts added.
Warlock:
Charisma is added to all blasts. AOE Blast Shapes can no longer hit Placebles. Eldritch Glaive now uses new proper touch attack function. Repelling Blast knockdown now limited to creatures large and smaller.
Divine Agent:
Levels now count towards Lay on Hands.
Class totally reworked and frenzy ability boosts now properly break the 12 cap on the sheet.
Chaos Monk:
Flail Stance now does randomized damage.
Bug Fixes:
Stonelord's Reverse Gravity error message. Mist of Eldath error message. Greater Restoration no longer removes drug addictions and AC decrease. Cure Wounds spells now properly add caster level to the healing. Character deletion and recreation with the same name now no longer blocks auto racial setup. Dispels now properly calculate the target PRC caster levels (Numbers' brain child.)

Many updates. XP caps are back in place. Boss XP is gone, but solo XP is a little larger and party XP is more than trippled. The daily cooldown has also been reduced a little. More races available at creation and automatically set up, including racial languages. (Loops, Numbers) More efficient ability cooldown systems. (Madhashi3) Sordin now buys a larger variety of gear and resets every 24 hours. Some new additions to the loot pool. The Zhalxos fight has been spiced up and special loot drop expanded. Bloodgem Park and new Z areas added. (TIK) Various new ioun stones. Iouns automatically disable on death, meaning you don't need to use them twice afterwards. (Mad) Class: Some frenzy timer reworks. Misc: The amount of loot in containers is no longer randomized (1-3 on average), and instead grants 1 item per party member within the same area up to 8. (Madhashi3, LucidPixels, Numbers) Most free to play races are now fully automated upon character creation. (Loops, Numbers) Respawn cost now 10% gold from 5% (still capped at 300k). However, respawning in the Spire of Valor now only costs 2% gold and caps at 50k. The prismatic dragon and dungeon have been updated. New shop for epic levels. (Loops, Numbers) The Spire of Valor enemy saves progression has been lowered. Two new z areas. (TIK) Redo the Shark Pirate is now updated. Kuo-toa shaman spells nerfed slightly. Many can be found in multiple places with prices varying depending on the difficulty to reach them. CR of many epic dungeons has been corrected and now finetuned to help with epic XP gain. CR of the lowest entry-level dungeon monsters have been slightly artificially inflated to help with early XP gain with no increased difficulty. The Lower Ward Necrolab loot no longer breaks, and general dungeon improvements. Boss also updated. Loot now spawns gold more often (20%) and the pesky 'misc' category even more often (40%). Mean gold amount lowered. Loot now includes enhanced (+1) to ensorcelled (+4) weapons of all kinds. You will find the special things still, but expect about half to be of the nondescript bonus kind. (= more build diversity possible) Thanks to Stormbringer, the special loot has received a number of additions, too! (Especially the High and Great categories). Spell level calculations: They should now work. On all spells. For all classes. Yes, I mean all classes. Start sending bug reports! (Huge thanks to Cubic!) Psionicist!: Psionicist should be fixed. There will be a few minor tweaks moving forward (shifting more abilities to int rather than wis), but it's there. Unless it's broken. Tweaks, fixes, bug fixes: I'd list them, but a bunch of spells have been altered as per player suggestions, and a number of other things. It also includes a series of description updates that don't affect mechanics but puts the described behaviour of abilities in line with mechanics and/or srd-like. Hak update: Yeah. Hundreds of placeable and creature models. Lots of tilesets. You'll start seeing them roll out soon. Some models have been used already for some things. Let's see if you find them. (Hak update) Other tweaks and fixes: Wards have been updated to better reflect current IC situation. Beware in the Hive. Updates to a few other areas. I may list them later. Gold Worth Tweaking: To make gold just a little more meaningful, a few things have been looked into. All pawnshops have had their payment ceiling lowered as well as slightly reduced pay for items. All shops have had their ceiling lowered and in almost all cases had an appraise roll added. The merchants have been given appraise skill. This is meant to ensure that appropriate builds become more important for gold return.
It is also meant to ensure that moving around the server is more beneficial: depending on your character you’d find stores with high or low appraise better, with high ceiling or high pay% better, etc. Generally, these factors play differently so that the highest ceiling has a lower % and higher npc appraise, whereas low ceiling and low% would have low npc appraise, etc. To not punish new characters too hard the Bronze Bezant have primarily had the ceiling lowered while the % and appraise have been kept fairly similar. Loot and merchants have been gone through and all wands have had the amount charges lowered (ca ½). This is another part in trying to address gold economy, and to decrease’pocket mage’ tendencies. This does not affect wands created by PCs. Module Cleanup: About 100 unused monsters/npcs and their items removed (many of which belonged to the removed areas or has previously been taken out of spawns) About 80 scripts removed (about 30 unused; about 50 unnecessary scripts 'doubles' replaced with variable-based scripts and removed) About 20 unused conversations removed About 60 items removed (doubles or trivial variants, e.g. ”cloaked” versions of various clothes) from resources About 100 items (keys, faction tokens) removed from resources and instead placed in containers. 1 unused area removed (”Daeth Tower”) A range of faultily named resources (conversations, scripts, etc) have been replaced with correctly named resources. |
