History

Belgrave makes it no secret that he comes from Damara, a kingdom located in the Cold Lands of eastern Faerûn. He was born and raised there and his ancestors had lived there for almost as long as there had been a kingdom. His childhood home had been a small village, located near the Galena Mountains and not far from the Bloodstone Mines where his father had worked for years.

Not long after he was born, the kingdom began suffering through a time of great hardship. A harsh winter struck the kingdom which lead to widespread starvation and terrible wolves roamed the land. A great evil infested the Bloodstone Mines which claimed the lives of many working there. His father managed to escape and soon after became a hunter of wolves. The following year, the kingdom was invaded by their neighbor and the occupation would last for a decade.

His village was destroyed and the people living there butchered by the hostile forces that invading the kingdom. He and his father both survived the massacre and young Belgrave was entrusted in the care of Ilmateri priests who dwelled in a hidden monastery in the Galena Mountains. There he remained for the rest of his childhood while his father served in the king's army and aided in the defense of their homeland. He had few memories of his mother and even fewer of his sister, both of whom he assumed to have been killed when the village was destroyed. It was not something his father was keen on discussing.

Eventually the King's army was destroyed in a decisive battle and the King himself slain. His father returned to the monastery and the two of them left Damara to travel west.
