Adam was born on a prime that was rife with war and instability. Backstabbing and betrayals were common and cartels and warlords often rose to assert dominance for however brief their tenure is. It was so unstable that the Powers themselves were constantly dying, being reborn, destroyed, absorbed, and split. He was orphaned at an early age and because of the constant war, manpower was required and he, along with other orphans, were pressed into the military to be trained for inevitable battle. He did not do well as a trainee as he was smaller and on average weaker than his fellow recruits but what did shine was his intelligence. When a mage tested him to see if he could follow the complex art that is magic, he was turned out to be pretty book smart and had him transferred to the Magic Corp to be taught magic. Unfortunately he landed with Archmage Jerome. While he was a powerful and outlandishly smart mage, he was known for neglecting his apprentices and even getting them killed in his experiments. The only reason he was not discharged or barred from taking on apprentices was due to how pivotal he was in arms races that were constantly happening. As always Jerome neglected Adam, however, Adam was able to still learn magic by going through Jerome's notes that were always strewn around and by watching other more advanced apprentices practicing. Whenever he wasn't doing chores and mentality exhausted from the magical training, he would watch the trainees during their drills. During one of those sessions an instructor thought it would be funny to have a small apprentice train with the more hardened recruits and told him to come down and start drilling. Oddly enough, Adam actually liked the grueling drills and started to come more and more to train. And even though he was overwhelmed by the sheer amount of physical and magical training, he persevered through it. He was, however, notably weaker and more fragile than the rest of the recruits. When his master Jerome was walking by the training field and saw Adam lose resoundingly to another trainee. Jerome furiously grabbed Adam with a Telekinesis (almost fracturing several bones in the process) and throwing him into his lab where he chastised Adam for daring to lose to a "mundane." He then, for the first time in a long time, actually taught Adam some basic Transmutation and Abjuration spells to help him overcome his shortcoming physically. He also threatened to drag down a meteor swarm on Adam if he lost again to such Mundanes again. The drill instructors did not want to continue to have Adam in the drill but Jerome pulled some strings to ensure that Adam continued to be in the drills. Adam, while still not as good as the instructors themselves, had a severe advantage against the other trainees due to his magical enhancements and protections. The instructors and trainee alike hated Jerome and Adam for that. One day, Jerome was putting together an experiment and had Adam assembling the pieces of a strange and highly unstable contraption that gave out pulses of strange energies and that Jerome had cast a very powerful ward on himself and Adam to counteract. While Jerome went away to bring "focus lens" he forgot to bring, one of the trainees, with assistance from the head instructor who had a vendetta with Jerome, snuck into the lab and shot an arrow at Adam. However, a pulse of energy from the machine had bent the trajectory of the arrow in a way that made it miss Adam and instead it hit the machine in a vital point. It exploded in a burst of concentrated magical energy that critically burned Adam's right side and shunted him through the multiverse into the Outlands. He landed near Fortitude where he was alive but in dire condition and in a coma. Some planes-walkers found and treated him as best they could before taking him to Fortitude proper. There he made a mostly-full recovery due to high-powered healing magic courtesy of the planes-walkers money. He remained in a for a long time however due to the ordeal and when he came to the planes-walkers were long gone. He noticed how peaceful and orderly everything was there and came to love that peace, as it was so bizarre and yet relaxing to him. He started to take work very intensive manual jobs in order to pay for living there and would use the little extra money he had left over to start rebuilding his spell-book. When he was at a recruitment rally for the Harmonium, he realized that he would love to make sure everyone had this sort of peace and stability and that he was willing to fight for it. He started to train again, sometimes venturing into the Outlands to find opponents for him to fight and start to grow his abilities. His intensive labor jobs helped build up his physical skills although he still wasn't as durable as what other soldiers would be due to his natural affinities and the dramatic magical impacts that shunted him into the Outlands. Once he became of age, he traveled with a caravan to Sigil where he knew the Harmonium there might be able to use some help because of the nature of the city.
