Kyorlen the Faith Keeper

Overview

Kyorlen the Faith Keeper is a sentient longsword, once belonging to the fallen planetar Hediam of the Golden Hills.

Formerly known as the Defender of Twin Paradises, it was discarded upon Hediam's fall, and protected itself by encasing its blade in the igneous rock nearby. A party of adventurers was dispatched from Bytopia to effect its return, and it came into the possession of Fadra D'rethi.

It was, briefly, returned to Hediam, who pushed its corruption over the edge; the dwarven cleric Skeggi Cindermaul was able to bring it back to a stable state before returning it to its new bearer, and later the blade was reforged in Moradin's realm by one of his paladins, MacLasiar O'Fearghail.

The blade does not speak, but instead communicates with its bearer through emotions. Though originally a planetar's weapon, its repair by dwarvish devotees has caused it to resist the hand of any non-dwarf who tries to wield it save its current wielder, prompting some to believe that she will eventually grant it to one of them, as it likely has a further fate with that priesthood.

For the moment it is still in possession of Fadra D'rethi.
