Player Housing & Shops
Player Housing
Whether you want to have some place to kip after being bubbed, a place to store your dragon's hoard of weapons, armors and baubles, or a place to call your own, you'd want a house! Tired of paying Airon every cycle for a place to lay your head? You can always rent a house or room using SPL’s player housing system!
SPL offers many designs, including dozens of different housing models ranging from everything to wagons and tents to manors and mansions. There's also 9 different Wayfarer rooms, and 12 unique Hound's Hearth rooms in Tradegate. Our awesome builders have even taken into account region-specific houses, such as more dilapidated homes located in the Hive ward and longhouse-style homes in Glorium.
The housing system is completely automated. Simply go up to a door and try to open it to glean more information. There are hundreds of these doors across the entire server. If a house is available for rent, you have the option to view the floor plan and rent the house. Renting lasts an IRL month and your rent can be managed with commands. A Planeswalker can own both a House and Shop (if they can afford the monthly price).
Feel stuck and can't get out of the preview of the floor plan? Do not panic, the system will automatically eject you out of the preview within a few minutes.
The following is the size pricing and persistent storage capacity of each home:

Player Shops
When gathering many of the different, exotic goods within the Multiverse, one can often sell them to peddlers for few coins, perhaps disenchant them, or trade them to other Planeswalkers. While a Planeswalker can always trade by direct trade, SPL offers the player the possibility of owning a Shop, where they can sell their found goods.
Like Player Housing, Player Shops are properties owned by the Planeswalker which serve to sell goods. Upon initially renting, the Planeswalker can choose what crafting type the Shop will be. This affects visually how the shop will looks like (eg. an armorsmith shop showing armor sold) and it will affect the backroom, which will hold the necessary crafting tools for the specific craft (but not Refining). The system works by having two things: a lovely quadrone shopkeeper doing the selling for you, and a safe. Within the safe (which is automatically unlocked and locked with a key so you do not need to manually unlock it), you can place up to 50 items which will be sold to other Players. The modron shopkeeper works as a standard vanilla NWN shop whose inventory is taken from the safe. It also does not differentiate between the Owner and any potential Buyers, so do not make the mistake of taking out items via the Shop, you have to use the Safe.
The price of the goods sold is fixed to the mechanical gold value of the item and the Player has no option of editing prices. Appraisal does work on the Buyer's end, allowing one to purchase expensive items for less. For regular Planeswalkers, this makes examining Player Shops a good way to find rare gear. The Shopkeeper gets less gold when a Buyer uses Appraisal, however the gold gained is significantly higher than selling to NPC Shopkeepers, ensuring a good profit regardless. To help stimulate the Shopkeeper's pockets economical standing and NPCs occasionally purchasing, the Shop automatically sells a random item at a random interval, intentionally unknown to Players.
When first rented, Player Shops are closed and must be both opened and unlocked. Every server restart, the Player Shop needs to be reopened in the same way. Related to this, Player Shops can have custom names (their base name is [Planeswalker]'s Shop). The name is changed with a command, but it changes only when the Player Shop is open, which means on server restarts or when you had just rented it. Rent is IRL monthly, managed with a command, and the price for a Player Shop is 500k per IRL month. A Planeswalker can own both a House and Shop (if they can afford the monthly price).
Now, one might be wondering, how does one get their hard earned jink? Gold is stored behind the scenes, which can be accessed with the command /shopgold. For all the commands related to Player Shops, see at the end of the page.
